IEEE PowerTalks 2026 Comes to Muscat: Grid Resilience and the Energy Transition

Oman is hosting the 5th edition of its Electricity & Energy Conference, known as IEEE PowerTalks 2026, from 12 to 14 October 2026 at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Centre in Muscat.

What is happening

The conference is organised by Nama Electricity Distribution Company in cooperation with IEEE. The organisers have described it as a platform for showcasing the latest global technologies in electricity production, generation and distribution. The programme covers transmission, grid resilience, renewable energy, energy efficiency and storage, the digital transition, green hydrogen and emissions reduction.

The Chair of the IEEE Power and Energy Society (Oman Section), Eng. Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al Wahaibi, said the conference supports the development of Oman’s national energy sector by encouraging the exchange of knowledge.

The conference theme is "Powering the Future: Energy Transition Pathways and Grid Resilience in an Increasingly Complex Environment."

Scale

Organisers expect more than 5,000 participants from over 75 countries, representing electricity and energy companies, government and regulatory bodies, research institutions, and technology and consultancy firms. Oman Daily reports this is expected to be the largest edition since the conference began.

Why it matters

Grid resilience and energy storage are central to how Oman integrates more renewable energy into its power system while keeping supply reliable. Dispatchable, storable clean energy supports stable supply for households and businesses.
