AL-DHAW is a DCRP S2 certified solar company based in Muscat. Two bodies are involved before a solar system can connect to the grid in Oman, and they do different jobs: DCRP approves the companies and the products, and Nama checks each application and the work before connection. This page explains who does what and how we handle it for you.
What Is DCRP?
DCRP is the Distribution Code Review Panel. It approves, by registration, the contractors, consultants, products and institutes that work on the Nama Distribution network. DCRP does not approve individual solar projects. It registers who is allowed to do the work and which products may be used.
What Does Nama Check?
Nama Distribution reviews the application for each solar system and checks the work before the system goes onto its electrical network. An on-grid system is connected only after that check.
What This Means for Your Solar Project
- Use a DCRP-registered company: AL-DHAW is DCRP S2 certified, so we are registered to carry out this work.
- Use DCRP-approved products: we specify equipment from the approved product lists.
- Get the application right: we prepare the application and drawings and submit them to Nama.
- Pass Nama’s check: we coordinate with Nama until the system is connected.
How AL-DHAW Handles the Approval
- Site assessment and feasibility. We check the roof or land, shading, structure and electricity consumption, then size the system within the current grid-connection limits.
- Detailed engineering design. Our engineers prepare the panel layout, yield simulation, single-line diagram and bill of quantities to Omani technical requirements.
- Nama application. We prepare the application and submit it to Nama.
- Installation. Our teams install the system under strict safety and quality supervision.
- Testing and commissioning. We run electrical tests and performance checks.
- Nama check and connection. We coordinate Nama’s check of the work and the connection to the network.
- Handover. You receive as-built drawings, test reports and warranty documents.
What Delays an Approval
- An application that is incomplete or does not match the installed design.
- A design that does not follow the technical requirements.
- A system sized beyond the current grid-connection limit. See our 50% rule explanation.
- A contractor or products that are not DCRP approved.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does DCRP approve my solar system?
No. DCRP approves the contractors, consultants, products and institutes that work on the Nama Distribution network. Your system itself is checked by Nama before it is connected.
Who checks my solar system before it is connected?
Nama. It reviews the application and checks the work before the system goes onto its electrical network.
Is AL-DHAW DCRP certified?
Yes. AL-DHAW Sustainability Energy SPC is DCRP S2 certified.
How long does the approval take?
It depends on the system size, site readiness and how the application is processed. Approvals often take longer than the installation itself, so we give you a project schedule at the start and update it at each milestone.
Is the Nama application included in your solar EPC contract?
Yes. In our solar EPC scope we prepare and submit the application to Nama and coordinate the grid connection. We also offer this through solar consultancy and project management.
