Want solar but don’t have the budget for it? With solar leasing in Oman, you can install a solar system at your site with zero upfront investment. AL-DHAW connects you with solar investors and developers who finance the full system. You pay a fixed lease, and your effective cost per kWh drops below what you pay for electricity today.
What Is Solar Leasing?
Solar leasing is a financing model where an investor or developer pays for your solar system instead of you. The system is installed at your site and produces your electricity from day one. In return, you pay a fixed lease over an agreed term.
Because the lease is structured below your current electricity cost, you start saving immediately, without spending capital. It is the fastest way for a business to benefit from solar when the budget isn’t available.
How Solar Leasing Works
- Site assessment. We review your roof or land, electricity bills and consumption profile to confirm the project is viable.
- System design. Our DCRP S2 certified engineers design the right system and estimate its annual energy production.
- Investor matching. We connect you with a solar investor or developer who agrees to finance the full system cost.
- Lease agreement. You agree the lease amount, term and end-of-term options before anything is installed.
- Installation and approvals. The system is installed and commissioned, including DCRP approval and Nama connection for on-grid systems.
- You save from day one. You pay the fixed lease while the system supplies your electricity.
Solar Leasing vs Buying Your Solar System
| Solar Leasing | Buying (Cash) | |
|---|---|---|
| Upfront investment | None | Full system cost |
| Capital budget needed | No | Yes |
| Monthly cost | Fixed lease | None after purchase |
| Savings start | Immediately | Immediately, after the investment |
| Best for | Preserving cash | Maximising long-term savings |
Both options can make sense. We explain the numbers for your site so you can choose with confidence. If you prefer to own the system outright, see our solar EPC service.
Benefits of Solar Leasing for Your Business
- Zero upfront investment: your capital stays in your core business.
- A lower cost per kWh: the lease is structured so your effective electricity cost is lower than your current tariff.
- Predictable costs: a fixed monthly lease makes budgeting simple.
- Faster decisions: no waiting for capital budget approval.
- Professional delivery: the system is designed and installed to DCRP approval standards.
Which Solar Systems Can Be Leased?
On-Grid Systems (Nama Network)
For sites connected to the Nama grid, the leased system is an on-grid system, the only type Nama approves for connection to its network. It reduces the electricity you buy from the grid.
Off-Grid and Hybrid Systems (Sites Without the Nama Network)
For farms, camps and remote facilities without the Nama network, leasing can finance off-grid or hybrid systems (solar, batteries and a backup generator). These cut diesel consumption and running costs significantly.
Who Qualifies for Solar Leasing?
Solar leasing works best for sites with:
- High daytime electricity consumption.
- Suitable roof, carport or land area.
- A long-term presence at the location.
Typical candidates include factories, warehouses, hotels, malls, schools, hospitals and farms. We confirm eligibility during the site assessment.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there any upfront cost for solar leasing in Oman?
No. The investor or developer finances the full system cost, including equipment and installation. You pay only the fixed lease over the agreed term, so your capital stays available for your business.
How does solar leasing reduce my cost per kWh?
The lease is sized against the electricity your solar system produces. It is structured so that the effective cost of each kWh you use is lower than your current electricity tariff, which means you save from the first month.
What happens at the end of the lease?
End-of-term options are agreed in the lease contract before installation, so there are no surprises. We walk you through these terms with the investor during the agreement stage.
Can I lease solar if my site is not on the Nama network?
Yes. For sites without the Nama network, leasing can finance off-grid or hybrid systems that combine solar, batteries and a backup generator, reducing diesel use and running costs.
Does a leased solar system need DCRP approval?
Yes, if it connects to the Nama network. As a DCRP S2 certified company, AL-DHAW designs the system and handles the DCRP and Nama connection process as part of the project.
